About Us
沖縄本島の真ん中に位置する恩納村。
海岸沿いには多くのリゾートホテルが立ち並び、沖縄でも有数のリゾート地です。
海を満喫できる夏はもちろん、温暖な冬も人気の沖縄。ここ恩納村も一年中、観光客で賑わっています。
そんな華やかなリゾートホテルのイメージが強い恩納村の北端にある小高い丘の上で、
私たちは小さな宿を営んでおります。
Onna Village is located in the middle of the main island of Okinawa.
It is one of the most popular resort areas in Okinawa, with many resort hotels along the coast.
Okinawa is popular not only in summer, but also in winter with mild weather.
Onna Village is also crowded with tourists in all season.
We run a small inn on a hill at the northern of Onna Village.
この地での創業は1985年。その二年前（1983年）にお隣の名護市・屋我地島で「欧風民宿 ペンション ウィークエンド」として、元々民宿だった建物を借り、宿泊業をスタートさせました。
1985年に恩納村の現在の土地を購入、現在の建物を建設し「ペンション ウィークエンド」と名称を変えて移りました。
元々、「ペンション」とはドイツなどで年金受給者の夫婦が自宅を宿に改装し、食事なども提供する民宿のようなスタイルを指します。
日本では段々と「ペンション」＝「一棟貸しの民泊施設」が同じような意味で使用されていますが、本来は謂わゆる海の家のような民宿のようなもの。
当宿は本来の意味である「ペンション」のとおり、自宅を兼ねた建物でお食事なども提供しています。
We started our business here in 1985.
Two years earlier (from 1983), we run our accommodation business in Yagaji in Nago City, as “European-style guest house Pension Weekend”.
In 1985, we purchased the current land in Onna Village, built the current building and moved here, then changing the name to ‘Pension Weekend’.
Originally, a “pension” was a style of guest house in Germany which pensioner couples renovated their home into guesthouse and provided meals.
In Japan, the term “pension” is gradually being used to mean the same thing as “private accommodation “, but it was originally a kind of guest house,.
As the original meaning of the word “pension” suggests, our inn is a guesthouse serving meals.
時代の移ろいと共に宿泊のお客さまも多様化し、小さな宿ながら多くの国内・海外のお客さまにもお越しいだたきました。
特に印象の残ってるのが、1990年代前半の前半にお越しになったチェコスロバキア（当時はまだその名称でした）の大使館料理長の旦那さまと奥さまのご夫婦。
２週間ほど滞在されましたが、毎朝遅めの朝食を召し上がり、その後は徒歩５分のビーチでのんびりと一日を過ごし、帰ってきたら当宿で夕食を召し上がる、と毎日同じように過ごされていました。
As changing times, our guests have diversified, we have had many domestic and international guests.
One couple who left a particularly strong impression on us was the head chef of the embassy of Czechoslovakia (as it was then still called) and his wife, who came in the first half of the early 1990s.
They stayed for two weeks and spent every day in the same way: having late breakfast every morning, spending time at beach all day, enjoying dinner at our place.
当時、日本はバブル全盛期。
日本人のお客さまは朝早くから観光やマリンスポーツに出かけ、夜は宿でワイワイ酒盛りをするという過ごし方が多かった中、ヨーロッパらしい休暇の過ごし方をされていたそのご夫婦の姿はとても心に残るものがありました。
それが現在の当宿のスタイルの原点にもなったように思います。
At the time, Japan was at the height of its bubble economy.
Many Japanese guests went sightseeing and marine sports from early in the morning and having party at night.
That is why, that couple enjoying a European-style holiday was very memorable for us.
This was the starting point of our current style of accommodation.
近年は、

の３つをこの小さな宿で体現したいと考え、様々な工夫をしております。
Even we are a small inn, we try to create “Relaxing Atmosphere”, “Food for Well-being”, and “Experiences of Okinawa” at our place.
当宿は創業時から変わらない緑色の瓦屋根、白い壁が特徴の洋館のような建物です。
一階のダイニングルームにはヴィンテージ家具や油絵などを配置し、落ち着ける雰囲気にしています。
Our inn has unique green roof tiles and white wall.
On ground floor, we try to make relaxing atmosphere with vintage furniture and oil paintings.
客室は高い天井にロフトが付いており、調度品も必要なものだけに留め、ゆとりある空間と大切にしております。
また、全客室にユニットバスを併設し、民宿スタイルながらプライベート感を保てるようにしております。
古い建物で豪華な設備はありませんが、「どんなに旅が大変でも、宿に帰ればホッとできる」と思っていただけるような、
シンプルであたたかみを感じる空間を目指しております。
The rooms have high ceilings and lofts, and the furnishings are limited to the essentials to ensure a spacious and comfortable environment.
All rooms are equipped with a shower and toilet, so that guests can maintain own privacy.
Although old building with no luxurious facilities, we are trying to create a simple, cozy space where guests can feel at ease when they return to the inn, no matter how hard their journey may have been.
なるべく地産地消となるよう地元の食材を使用し、どなたさまでも美味しく召し上がれるような料理を心掛けています。
また、様々な角度で地産品を紹介したいと考え、コーヒーベルトの北限の沖縄で採れたコーヒー、県産サトウキビでつくられたラム、
地元泡盛の古酒なども提供しております。
朝の目覚め、宵のひとときにも、沖縄らしさを満喫していただければと思います。
We use local food as possible, try to promote local production and consumption.
We also serve local produced coffee, rum produced by Okinawa brown sugar, and vintage Awamori(Okinawa liquor).
Hope you have feel Okinawa in the morning and in the evening.
当宿は西海岸に位置し、徒歩数分で水平線に沈む夕陽を見ながら海辺を散策することができます。
山や森、海に囲まれているため、晴れた夜空を見上げると、夏は北斗七星、冬はオリオン座がキレイに見えます。
車で少し行くと、沖縄らしい森を体験できる山道や、静かなマングローブ林を楽しむことも可能です。
また、雨の日の読書にと、宿の図書には沖縄の歴史、やちむん・紅型など民芸の本も揃えております。
Our inn is located on the west coast.
Within few minutes’ walk, you can take a stroll along the seafront and see sunset on the horizon.
Surrounded by mountains, forests and the ocean, The Big Dipper in summer and Orion in winter are shining in the clear night sky.
Just a short drive away, you find mountain trail with tropical forest and peaceful mangrove forests.
On rainy day, you can also enjoy books about Okinawa history, pottery, textile in our library.
